Travelling is very popular nowadays. A lot of people travel to different countries if they have such opportunity. Travelling allows you to get interesting experience, learn about people’s life in other countries and continents. I think it is very interesting to discover new things, new places and different ways of life. While on travel, you meet new people, try different meals; see world famous places with your own eyes.
These are many ways of traveling – by train, by plain, by ship, on foot. If you want to visit a far country, you’ll definitely choose a flight. If your aim is to see many countries for a short time, you’ll choose travelling by bus or by car. If you want to be closer to nature, you may choose a trip on foot.
Lots of people nowadays live in big cities. So it’s natural that they want to have a holiday by the sea or in the mountains with nothing to do but relaxing. There is other sort of travellers. They want to visit as many countries as possible. So after exploring Europe and North America they go to exotic countries.
People who travel a lot, are very interesting, they always have a good story to tell. Thanks to them you can learn many things which you didn’t know before. They motivate to see something new, to explore the world, which is so easy to do nowadays. Any kind of travel helps you to understand many things that you would never see or learn at home.

My Summer Holidays
Summer is a wonderful season for me. It is the hottest and the best season of the year. The weather is always nice and sunny. It’s a real pleasure to spend some days out of my town. So many people leave towns for countryside, seaside and mountains.
In summer schoolchildren do not go to school. They have summer holidays which are three months long. Children don’t have to get up early. There is no homework to do or lessons to learn. So, they like holidays. I never stay in bed long in a bright summer morning. Sometimes my friends and I go to the cinema or to forest. Sometimes we play football or tennis in the yard.
Every summer I go to the country to stay with my grandmother for a month or two. I help Granny to work in the kitchen garden or to look after chickens and pigs. In the village I often go for long bike rides with my brother. There is a nice river Prut not far from my Granny’s place. Sometimes we go fishing or boating. I like to sit in silence for a while waiting for a fish to get caught and listening to the birds singing in the forest. I like to go to the beach in the morning when it is not too hot. I swim, sunbathe and play with my friends on the bank of the river.

Travelling
Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns, they travel to enjoy picturesque places, or just for a change of scene. It's always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different musical rhythms.
Those who live in the country like to go to a big city and spend their time visiting museums and art galleries, looking at shop windows and dining at exotic restaurants. City-dwellers usually like a quiet holiday by the sea or in the mountains, with nothing to do but walk and bathe and laze in the sun.
Most travellers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interests them — the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, waterfalls, forests; different kinds of trees, flowers and plants, animals and birds.
Later, perhaps years later, they will be reminded by the photos of the happy time they have had.
People travel by train, by plane, by boat and by car.
All means of travel have their advantages and disadvantages. And people choose one according to their plans and destinations.
If we are fond of travelling, we see and learn a lot of things that we can never see or learn at home, though we may read about them in books and newspapers, and see pictures of them on TV. The best way to study geography is to travel, and the best way to get to know and understand people is to meet them in their own homes.

pupil of the sixth form. I study at school 11 in Konotop. I study a lot of
subjects at school. I study Mathematics, IT,PE, Reading, English, Arts, and Music.
English is
my favourite subject. I have my English three times a week. Every Monday,
Wednesday and Friday I take my English textbook, vocabulary and exercise-book
and go to my English lesson.
At the
English lesson we speak, read and write. We speak about school, pupils and
teachers, about lessons, animals and nature, about our friends, sports and
games. We read books and stories about children, nature, school life and so on.
We learn new words and write exercises. We read texts and translate them. We
play games and tell dialogues.
We play at
English, too. We sing songs and learn poems.
I like

Last week I travelled by
plane for the first time in my life1. I travelled with my parents.
We went to the airport by
taxi. When we arrived there, we put our suitcases on a cart and went into the

The airport was very
busy. There were too many people. Some of them were at the check-in desk.
Others were at the information desk. When we got on the plane, an air hostess
said hello to us and pointed to our seats. There were lots of people on the

It was fantastic when the

Sandwiches
My favourite food is sandwiches. They consist of two slices of wheat bread with butter, and you can put some slices of cheese or sausages between them. Sometimes I add some vegetables. This may be a cucumber or lettuce. My sister also likes sandwiches, but she doesn’t like butter, so she makes her sandwiches without butter.
I also like sandwiches with cutlets instead of sausages. It may be chicken or turkey cutlets — it doesn’t matter, it’s very tasty anyway.
The sandwiches are absolutely delicious because you can feel the bread, vegetables and meat at the same time.
Mashed potato is my favourite food
I like vegetables, fruits and sweets. I also like meat and fish. In general, I like the food that smells good and looks quite pretty. I think that mashed potato with meatballs is my favourite food. I know how to prepare tasty mashed potatoes. Add butter to boiled potatoes, then add hot milk and beat everything with a mixer. You get a delicate taste!
I know that some English people usually start their morning with a traditional English breakfast including scrambled eggs, beans, bacon and many other ingredients. Sometimes I eat scrambled eggs for breakfast too. But most of all I love light fluffy mashed potatoes and juicy meatballs. It is extremely tasty and satisfying.
By the way, I can’t live without chocolate. I like milk and dark chocolate with nuts and raisins. Chocolate is creamy and rich and always calms your nerves.
